Start Generating More Leads and Close More Sales: Begin With Identifying Lead Temperatures - Copy

September 19, 20222 min read

“You are out of business if you don’t have a prospect.”Zig Zigler

According to the definition, lead generation is “the action or process of identifying and cultivating potential customers for a business's products or services.” In other words, classifying and attracting potential customers or “leads.” But how important is lead generation in building a marketing strategy?

First, you must identify the leads you attract toward your products or services. To establish an effective marketing strategy to get the interest of your leads, you must know which category of leads they belong to.

This is what lead temperatures are all about. Your leads are classified into three “temperatures” — cold, warm, and hot leads.

Cold leads are those who aren't aware of who you are, what you do, and what services and products you offer. They aren't interested in you and your business.

These are the lead types whose contact details you got from the internet or some database.

Since cold leads aren’t interested in what you are offering, they require most of your time and effort to turn them into prospects. This is your chance to show your services and offers to attract them.

You might consider sending cold emails, doing cold calls, and attracting them through social media. Your social media presence is crucial as they can see what you do and offer as a brand.

The next type of lead is warm leads. These are the ones in between the cold and hot stages. They know your products and services but are still considering buying them.

You may have built rapport with them, but they need more trust to make a purchase.

Warm leads are often easier to handle compared to cold leads. The key is to play your cards right, build more trust and show them how your services can benefit them, and then you’ll make these warm leads into hot leads.

Lastly, the hot leads. Hot leads are known to be what most business owners strive for since they take the least time to convert into sales.

Aside from the term “hot leads,” they are also identified as “qualified leads” because they meet all the criteria for being qualified to convert into a customer.

Hot leads or qualified leads already know you, your brand, and your products. They are already interested in purchasing with you. All they need is a little nudge, and the deal’s done!

Your only focus now should be on clearing any minor issues and final hurdles, making sure they’re a good fit to be a client, and turning them into a loyal customer.

Conclusion

Now that you know your lead temperatures, the next step is to identify how you strategize your campaign and convert each lead type into sales.
